WELCOME TO KSTU

The Kerala School Teachers Union (KSTU), under which thousands of teachers in the field of public education lined up is one of the leading teachers’ organizations in Kerala and is universally accepted by the teachers for its distinct action plan and ideology. The union came into existence on 4th May 1979 in Kozhikode with PP Abdurahman Master (Koduvalli) as President and P Haneefa Master (Trithala) as General Secretary.

The organisation got the recognition of Government, when TM Jacob was the Education Minister in 1986. GO.(MS) 39/86 dated 1-3-86 is the recognition order number. The Union was led by former leaders like E.

Ummer Master, Arimbra Muhammed Master, KP Raman Master who was an Ex. MLA, and KT Abdurahman master. Later, it was fostered and strengthened for a long time by CP Cheriya Mohammad and AK Zainuddin Master. The Center for Education & Social Advancement (CESA) located in Kozhikode is the headquarters and Guru Chaitanyam Magazine is the official publication of KSTU. There are Extensive Academic Wing, Women’s Wing, IT Wing and Arts and Culture Wing under this organization.

The objectives of CESA are to promote learning and research among teachers, to formulate plans for the education of the marginalized and to train the Excellent students to prepare for various competitive examinations. ‘Safala Bodhanam Samarppitha Munnettam’ is the motto of KSTU. KSTU played an active role in the comprehensive educational reforms that began in Kerala in 1990s. The resolutions taken by KSTU highlighting the current educational, cultural and political issues and events of the country are historic.
